Assistant Director of Graduate of Admissions

Job Summary:
As part of a cross-trained, proactive recruitment team, will effectively develop and utilize recruitment strategies; manage prescribed recruitment territories for graduate admissions; prioritize recruitment goals and complete projects as changing strategies dictate; effectively use data to assess strategy and priorities; and meet prescribed recruitment goals in assigned markets.   This includes meeting/interviewing prospective students; coordinating the admissions process; actively seeking and generating new program development opportunities; cultivating community and corporate partners; attending recruitment fairs and events; and actively managing a personal contact campaign via multiple mediums to assure exceptional service. The position requires evening and weekend work, flexible hours and travel.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Three or more years of proven experience in recruitment, sales or outreach in a fast-paced, goal-oriented operation. Graduate, adult or corporate recruitment experience strongly preferred. 
Specialized Skills: Team and service-oriented.  Able to effectively manage time.  Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and writing abilities required. Ability and drive to generate leads and build partnerships. Knowledge of the best practices in enrollment and adult recruitment strongly preferred.  Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required, as is ability to transport recruitment materials.  Commitment to integrity in the admissions process.  Ability to speak Spanish, and/or international experience or interest, would be beneficial.
Hours: 35 hours a week.  Position requires flexible hours during week, with evening or weekend work, travel, and overnight stays sometimes required.  Isolated international travel a possibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
All recruiters will be cross-trained and expected to serve students across the College’s market base (undergraduate, graduate, and international).  The depth and extent of time each recruiter will individually serve each market, will be determined based on business needs and an ongoing evaluation of best practices and team functions.  Each recruiter will have a set of core functions for which she/he serves a primary role -- this position will serve as one of the institution’s primary Hagan School of Business graduate recruiters, but may serve specific roles in support of the Arts and Sciences and/or international and undergraduate Hagan markets as well.
  • Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Iona College and the Christian Brothers.
  • Engage in professional behavior that enables the achievement of individual work responsibilities while fully and positively supporting the dynamics and progress of all entire enrollment units.
  • Efficiently manage a territory by analyzing data to determine which events, businesses, fairs and students to strategically target, and which territorial strategies will be most effective in each market to support goal attainment to support a vibrant and entrepreneurial academic unit.
  • Proactively assist and lead the development of corporate and community partnerships and revenue-generating cohort program opportunities
  • Serve as a primary liaison with the Dean’s Offices, Provost, Registrar and other College offices (i.e. Marketing) in regard to new program development.
  • Assess, develop and implement marketing, communication, and recruitment strategies for transfer students, as an integrated part of College enrollment strategy.  Monitor and enhance web content for assigned markets.  Advise and help implement graduate marketing opportunities.
  • Create personalized recruitment or marketing materials as needed.
  • Work with prospective students to facilitate the application process, interviews, registration, billing, advising and other key enrollment processes in coordination with other campus offices.
  • Evaluate candidate files, assist in gathering application evaluation materials as needed, and recommend admission and scholarship awards. 
  • Supervise student workers/volunteers, and support staff, for specific projects as needed.
  • Make fiscally-sound decisions surrounding travel and recruitment tactics. 
  • Work with enrollment data systems and electronic media in the recruitment of students (web portals, social media, e-blasts, blogs, chats, etc…)
  • Actively engage prospects at recruitment fairs and events.
  • Plan and conduct recruitment presentations at four-year colleges and corporate and community venues.  Cultivate relationships to build Iona brand and markets.  
  • Conduct effective and proactive phone, email, social media, and other contact campaigns to qualify students and move them in a timely and supportive manner through the process.
  • Present at information sessions as assigned or needed.
  • Assume an active and collaborative role as part of a cohesive recruitment team by:
    • Actively and effectively playing key roles as assigned or needed at all recruitment events on or off campus; assisting with event planning and implementation
    • Aggressively and proactively monitoring and adjusting progress toward individual goals in an effort to assure the team goal
    • Exercising good judgment in establishing priorities; making appropriate decisions and problem-solving; effectively managing own time, territory and projects; and accepting or overcoming obstacles creatively and patiently
    • Participating in the on-going development, planning, implementation and assessment of all recruitment strategies and effective admission and office policies and processes to support enrollment management best practices
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to meet changing business needs.
