Assistant Professor in Special Education
Iona College’s Education Department invites applications for:
Assistant Professor in Special Education (tenure-track; beginning August 2014)
We are seeking a faculty member in the Education Department who will work with pre-service and in-Service teachers and provide innovative scholarship in special education.
The ideal candidate will have:
teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in special education and general education
maintaining a strong record of scholarship and pursuing external funding
collaborating with the department and other departments to advance the special education programs
advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
supervising students in K-12 classrooms
collaborating with local educators and leaders in K-12 partnerships
an earned doctorate in Special Education or Education (with special education certification) by August 2014
a teaching certificate in Special Education
a recent history of scholarship in Special Education
teaching experience in K-12 classrooms
record of teaching Special Education pre-service or in-service courses or supervising teachers and teacher candidates in this field
preference will be given to applicants with research, certification, or experiences in Bilingual Education, English Language Learners, Adolescent Special Education, or Early Childhood Certification
Iona College’s Education Department is a nationally accredited institution that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees leading to New York State Certification as well as advanced certificate degrees to graduate students.
