Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Iona College, a Master's Level Catholic College located just 20 miles from Manhattan, invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Iona has approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including one of the largest freshmen class in ten years. Organized into the School of Arts and Science and the AACSB accredited Hagan School of Business, Iona offers 45 majors and 35 minors primarily on its beautiful New Rochelle campus. Some graduate programs are also offered at its Rockland Graduate Center alongside a new program offering this semester at Rockefeller Center in New York City. Iona College prides itself on preparing students for success in life and career within the tradition of the Christian Brothers and American Catholic Higher Education. It also encourages service to others and seeks to integrate the service experience with the academic experience. The College has just received reaccreditation from Middle States through 2022-2023.
The College is seeking a dynamic and innovative academic leader to serve as Chief Academic Officer. Reporting directly to the President he/she will oversee the School of Arts and Science, Hagan School of Business, and the divisions of Information Technology, Libraries and Student Life. The Provost provides leadership in planning, developing, implementing, budgeting, and assessing all academic, academic support, and student life programs; leadership for implementing many initiatives in the College's new strategic plan; and support for the Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee.
The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree, as well as a record of distinguished teaching, research, scholarship and service consistent with a tenured faculty appointment. He/she will be experienced in planning, budgeting, personnel administration, and using data to inform decisions. He/she will also have demonstrated success as a strong academic leader with the ability to implement strategic goals and bring individuals and groups with diverse perspectives to consensus and common action within a shared governance structure. The successful candidate will display an understanding of and commitment to the Mission of the College as a Catholic institution grounded in the tradition of the Christian Brothers.
