Part-Time Help Desk Specialist

 
This is a part-time position; regularly scheduled hours during the Fall and Spring terms are Wednesday, 6 p.m. - Midnight.

The primary responsibility of the position is the supervision of either the Ryan or Arrigoni Library Technology Help Desks during the weekend and evening.   

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Facilitates organization, management and circulation of the libraries’ collection.
  • Apply principles of good patron service to all interactions with users and visitors.
  • Maintains an environment, which facilitates research and study through monitoring and intervention.
  • Reset passwords, troubleshoot Help Desk queries when possible, generate activity tickets for all IT-related interactions using Help Desk software package.
  • Monitor communications from supervisors, co-workers and campus departments.
  • Utilize resources to maintain awareness of library and campus events.
  • Supervise student workers.
  • Submit Daily Activity report to supervisor.
  • Responsible for opening and/or closing procedures for the libraries; monitor and report facility and security issues. 
  • Compile user and usage statistics through hourly rounds.
  • Monitors copier system.
  • Performs other job duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager and/or department head. Schedule subject to change to accommodate the academic calendar and staffing needs, schedule may include evenings and/or weekends.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required, some college preferred.
 
Experience: Supervisory, Library and public service experience preferred.
 
Specialized Skills: Good oral and written communication, problem solving, computer skills required, strong computer skills preferred. Ability to handle, move and carry library materials.
