New Rochelle, NY (June 12, 2014) – The Business Council of Westchester (TBCW) will honor ‘40 under 40’ professionals of Westchester with the 2014 Rising Star Award. Three of the recipients are Iona College alumni who are being recognized for exemplifying leadership, foresight and a vision for the future of Westchester County.
The Iona College alumni honorees are: Professor Dorothy Leone, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, ’04, program director for the Iona College Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate program, (pictured right), Nikola Ilic ’11, senior project manager, RPW Group and Jenna Russo ’07, senior producer for News12 Westchester are among the 40 prestigious recipients.
Honoree Dr. Leone is also an assistant professor in Iona’s Speech Communication Studies Department. She received her bachelor’s degree in speech language pathology from Iona in 2004 and returned to Iona in the fall of 2010 as an assistant professor for the Speech Communication Studies department. She is a New York State and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association certified speech language pathologist, with a clinical focus on supporting social differences for children with autism spectrum disorders. "It is an honor to be a part of this incredible group of talented young professionals in Westchester County," said Dr. Leone.
According to TBCW, this year’s winners represent a wide-range of professionals from various backgrounds including law, government, media, politics, education and the arts. The honorees are among the finest young talents in Westchester County and work with some of the region’s best companies and institutions. With more than 100 nominations this year, the selections were competitive.
The winners will receive their Rising Star award during a ceremony on June 12 at 800 Westchester Avenue, White Plains. The program is modeled after the national business recognition program “Forty under Forty” and Rising Stars is specifically designed to recognize individuals under the age of 40 who exemplify leadership, foresight and a vision for the future of Westchester County. Winners were selected based on professional and/or entrepreneurial accomplishments, demonstrated leadership qualities and professional and/or business affiliations.
