Iona Students, Faculty and Staff Generously Donate 135 Thanksgiving Food Baskets to Families in Need

New Rochelle, NY (December 4, 2013) Iona College students, faculty and staff collected and donated 135 Thanksgiving food baskets and over $150 in gift cards to local families in need at the annual Blessing of the Thanksgiving Baskets. Recipients of the food baskets was distributed through three organizations; HOPE Community Services, Greyston Foundation Child & Youth Services, and Abraham House. Coordinated by the College’s Office of Mission & Ministry, this annual event was attended by the campus community. A reflection was given by the director of HOPE Community Services, Carole Troum who thanked the Iona family for their generosity. The traditional blessing of the baskets was given by Father Frank Dixon. The Blessing of the Thanksgiving Baskets is a time for the Iona community to join together and be thankful and fortunate enough to help those in need this holiday season.
