New Rochelle, NY (October 25, 2013) Iona College raised $269,350 at the 40th Annual Board of Trustees Invitational at the prestigious Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. on Monday, October 21. This is the second highest grossing Trustee Invitational in the past 10 years with the highest in 2007 at $279,000.
More than 200 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on both the East and West courses, including a “Beat the Pro” contest which was coordinated by Mike Gilmore P’16,’17, Winged Foot’s head golf professional. Guests also enjoyed a lavish breakfast, lunch and dinner and participated in live and silent auctions.
This year’s scholarship recipient, Nicole Motolinia ’14, shared her Iona story and addressed more than 150 Trustees, alumni, parents and friends of Iona College. "I would like to express my gratitude towards all of the donors who have made my education possible at Iona College," said Ms. Motolinia. "Because of your generous contributions I am a step closer to pursuing my dreams and life-time goals"
The proceeds of this annual Invitational directly support the Winged Foot Scholarship at Iona College. This event is also an opportunity for Winged Foot employees and their families to apply for scholarship credits at the College.
Other highlights of the evening included a special acknowledgement to Winged Foot Golf Club host, Charles H. McCabe ’68MBA, ’88H, event chairman, J. Riley McDonough ’72, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, James P. Hynes ’69, ’01H, for their generosity and leadership in spearheading the event’s success.
