New Rochelle, NY (October 10, 2013) Wall Street legend and Iona alumnus, Ralph Acampora Jr. ’63, presented to a large audience of students, faculty and staff for the Executive for the Day, sponsored by the Hagan School of Business. The lecture, “Sentiment: The Key to Long Term Investing,” was held in the Romita auditorium of Ryan Library in late September.
While on campus, Acampora met with two finance classes and shared real world experience and financial market trends with the students and faculty. “It’s wonderful to see an alumnus give back to the College,” said Vin Calluzzo, Ph.D., dean of the Hagan School of Business. “Mr. Acampora generously shared his years of expertise and insight with the campus community and his connection with the students was evident in all his interactions.”
Acampora is a director of Alverita LLC and senior managing director of market analytics for Altaira, Ltd., the Swiss parent company. Based in Geneva, Altaira Wealth Management initially used exchange-traded funds and other products from Russell Investments in accounts averaging more than $100 million.
A teacher of technical analysis at the New York Institute of Finance since 1970, Acampora is a pioneer in the development of market analytics and has a global reputation as a market historian and a technical analyst, providing unique insights on market timing and related investment strategy issues. He is a chartered market technician, a designation he helped create and which is now recognized by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Acampora also co-authored the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) examination.
