Thinking analytically–and quickly–is critical for finance professionals. At Iona, you’ll be able to hone these skills in our state-of-the-art trading room, where hands-on experience in data collection, analysis, securities trading and portfolio management will prepare you for a broad range of career paths. Our location just 20 miles north of midtown Manhattan affords outstanding internship experiences right at the heart of the financial world as well as in corporations and institutions throughout the tri-state area.

Finance Department degree programs include the BBA in Finance as well as four graduate-level programs: the MBA with Financial Management concentration and MS degrees in Finance, Financial Services and International Finance.

The Iona advantage, off campus and on

Students in Iona’s Finance programs enjoy annual field trips each fall to the United Nations for a presentation by the Department of Economic and Social Development, and a spring field trip to New York City’s Financial District, which includes a visit to the Federal Reserve Bank and the NYSE.
Students also benefit from site visits to the workplaces of alumni, the opportunity to present research at the Finance Department’s Summer Symposium.

On campus, Finance students have access to Iona’s Business Continuity and Risk Management Center and the Center for Financial Market Studies, leading resources for education, knowledge and research in their respective fields. The BCRM Center explores emerging developments in the technology of risk, resilience and recovery after a disaster, and the Center for Financial Market Studies offers students the opportunity to build their skills in security analysis, trading and portfolio management using the state-of-the-art trading room.

Students get the chance to participate in the annual CFA Institute Research Challenge organized by the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) and the annual CME Group Trading Challenge.
Students also have the opportunity to qualify to earn the valued Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) credential through the local chapter of the Association of Financial Professionals, AFP.

Finance Club provides a venue for majors to interact and organize activities to enhance their learning experience. Highlights of its activities include guest speakers, trips to United Nations, the New York City’s Financial District and an Annual Alumni Night gathering. In collaboration with Financial Management Association Honor Society, the club invites past and present MBA and BBA students each year to the Alumni Night gathering to participate in panel discussion on career opportunities and to network.

Finance Internship


The Department runs one of the active credit internship programs in the school.  Finance majors are encouraged to participate in the program in their second term junior year or in their senior year.
