Summer Program starting in Beijing and ending in Shanghai, China
Summer Session 2: End of May - End of June
Iona College offers students a three-week study abroad program in China. Spend a week in Beijing, then travel south to Xi'an and Guilin, and finish in Shanghai with trips to Suzhou and Hangzhou. Students from Iona and other colleges and universities must select two of the following courses, for core, elective or major credit:
BUS 998 CH - MBA Study Abroad (China)
BUS 410 CH - The Role of Business in Contemporary American Society
SCS 346 CH - Intercultural Communication: Skills for the 21st Century
FPA 490 CH - Introduction to Fine Arts of China
MAN 103 CH - Elementary Mandarin
Students receive a total of 6 credits while studying and touring through this tremendously diverse country. Courses are taught by Iona faculty members who travel to China with the students and by other local faculty based in the cities we visit. Students reside in 4-star hotels, and participate daily in excursions to cultural, business and other noteworthy sites. These include The Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Silk Market, the Terracotta Warriors, the Wild Goose Pagoda, the Li River and the Shanghai Museum.
To participate in the China program, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 by the end of the fall semester. Students on disciplinary probation at the time of departure will not be permitted to participate in this program.
