Summer Program in London, England
Late July to mid-August
lona in England is proud to offer a three-week program in Europe's most popular destination for tourism and study abroad: London.
Students reside in centrally-located housing, surrounded by the many monuments, landmarks, and sites of interest and entertainment that make the city so desirable for travelers.
The city itself is our classroom, from the 1000-year-old Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and Borough Market, to William Shakespeare's Globe theatre, Samuel Johnson's Cheshire Cheese pub, and Winston Churchill's War Rooms. Beyond London's monuments, theatres, and shops, students will experience the wonders of Stonehenge, Oxford, Hampton Court Palace, and have opportunities to travel on their own to other places in England, the United Kingdom, and the rest of Europe.
Coursework in London can include ENG 204 (Literature of the Modern World), two upper-level ENG courses, Criminal Justice Special Topics, as well as the possibility of independent study in other disciplines.
Courses can be taken for elective, major, or minor credit, and they are taught by lona faculty members who travel to London with the students.
Students receive a total of 6 credits while studying and touring in the beautiful city of London. Classes are taught Tuesday through Thursday, allowing students the opportunity to travel independently on the weekends. Class days also frequently include theatre shows in the evening.
Students reside in attractive facilities in London and participate in excursions to museums, monuments, and other noteworthy sites including the Globe Theatre, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, the Tower of London, Stonehenge, etc.
In order to participate any study abroad program, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of departure. Students under any active form of academic or disciplinary probation at the time of departure will not be permitted to participate in the program.
