Sibdas Ghosh, Ph.D.

Dr. Ghosh is a gifted teacher, scholar and administrator with over 25 years of academic and leadership experience in higher education at public and private institutions both domestic and international. Collaboratively, he has promoted national initiatives, brought about institutional transformation, implemented innovative programs, enhanced student and faculty development, established community partnerships and enriched diversity.
Dr. Ghosh holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Waterloo in Canada and a M.S. in Crop Physiology from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. Before coming to Iona, he was Professor and Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Dominican University in California where he had also served as Associate Dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences.
Dr. Ghosh is well published, with both personal and collaborative works, including 38 articles/chapters and two edited books, 60 percent of which are co-authored with his students. He has made over 150 presentations at national and international conferences including the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities (SENCER), Posters on the Hill, and Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). As Principal Investigator (PI), co-PI and collaborator he succeeded in securing over $43.21M, for capital improvement, research, instrumentation, and conference/workshop grants for various projects at Dominican University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
