Bob Petrausch, EdD
Chair of the Department of Mass Communication
Dr. Robert J. Petrausch is chair of the Department of Mass Communication at Iona College. He is head of the public relations sequence at the undergraduate and graduate level.
He started his career in public relations and organizational communication following a stint as Captain in the United States Air Force. He has held key positions in public relations and organizational communication with Shell Oil, General Electric, Sperry Corporation, GTE, and served as top communications executive for Uniroyal Chemical in Middlebury, CT. He has a master’s degree in public relations from Boston University, a master of arts degree in political science from Fordham University, a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from the New School for Social Research and a Doctor of Education degree from Columbia University, Department of Organization and Leadership.
Dr. Petrausch has a broad background in speech writing, internal communications, media relations, program planning, organizational communication and learning, public relations management/training. He is published in peer-reviewed journals and is co-author of Public Relations: A Primer for Business Executives He provides consulting advice to executives from Fortune 1000 companies and non-profit organizations. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. He has been a member of the Arthur Page Society, an organization for leaders in the PR field. Also, he has served as a board member of the Westchester- Fairfield Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
