Dr. Gefen is a New York State licensed psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist.  She has administered numerous psychoeducational assessments and has provided counseling to children and adolescents with a wide variety of psychological, academic and behavioral difficulties.  Prior to joining Iona College, Dr. Gefen taught as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at New York University and Hunter College. She also worked at Columbia University Medical Center on a research study examining suicidal behaviors in adolescents.  Her other research interests include stress and coping strategies in adolescents,  social and emotional adjustment to college, and characteristics of ideal college campus environments that create positive experiences for females and culturally diverse students. Dr. Gefen holds memberships in the American Psychological Association, (APA) the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
