Ask the Beasts: Darwin and the God of Love: Earth Month Keynote Address

The Second Vatican Council asked us to read the signs of the times. This lecture will examine how the Council recognized the ecological crisis as a sign of the times and will challenge us to reflect on Christian responsibility in the face of the current earth crisis, perhaps the sign of the times for us today.
Dr. Elizabeth Johnson, CSJ is Distinguished Professor of Theology at Fordham University. Author of nine books and over 90 academic articles, her publications have been recognized by at least nine major awards, including the prestigious Grawemeyer Award. A former president of the Catholic Theological Society of America, the oldest and largest society of theologians in the world, and a former president of the American Theological Society, an ecumenical group of theologians, Elizabeth Johnson’s main areas of teaching and writing focus on the mystery of God, Jesus Christ, Mary and the saints, science and religion, the problem of suffering, ecological
ethics, and issues related to justice for women.
