Marcus Aldredge joined Iona College as an adjunct instructor in 2005 before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2009. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology from the University of Houston, a M.A. from The City College of New York, and a PhD from Texas A&M University. His areas of scholarly interest include culture, social interactionism, deviance, and qualitative/mixed research methods. His recent research projects focus on expressive cultural practices in New York City, including his forthcoming book on open mic musicians. Professor Aldredge belongs to the American Sociological Association, the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction, and the Society for the Study of Food and Culture.
