Application Process for Graduate School of Arts & Science

When should you apply?

Most of Iona's graduate programs operate on a rolling admission basis. But we do encourage you to submit your application a month prior to a session start if possible, to help assure a smooth transition. School of Arts & Science classes enroll in three sessions: Fall (end of August), Spring (January) and some programs offer courses in Summer session.

What documents are required for a completed application?

Some programs have additional requirements:
  • Communication Sciences and Disorders: Submission of CSDCAS application. See below for more information.
  • MSEd programs: documentation of New York State teacher certification, official GRE scores sent to ETS code 2324.
  • MST programs: One-page statement of purpose, explaining your interest in teaching, official GRE scores sent to ETS code 2324.
  • Marriage and Family Therapy: 1-2 page autobiographical statement, explaining what spurred your interest in becoming a Marriage and Family therapist.
  • Public Relations: Three writing samples, no more than 1-2 pages in length each, highlighting your ability to persuade or argue a point.

Additional requirements for MA in Communication Sciences and Disorders

This program admits for the Fall semester only. The deadline for Fall 2017 is March 1, 2017. Applicants must apply through the CSDCAS system.
  • Three professional letters of recommendation.  
  • Official GRE score report using the DI code 1761. A score within the 140-160 range on both quantitative and verbal reasoning is preferred.
  • Recommended GPA of 3.5
  • Successful completion of prerequisite coursework

Other Important Application Information:

  1. Applications are processed on a continuing basis and decisions on admission are made when the application file is complete.
  2. Applications are valid for a period of one year from the point of submission. You may defer your application to a later semester by contacting your admissions counselor.
  3. Transfer of credits from other colleges are evaluated on an individual basis. A maximum of 6 credits may transfer on the graduate level.
  4. Applicants may send materials directly to the Graduate Admissions office, or email unofficial documents such as resumes and personal statements directly to their counselor.
  5. School Psychology only admits students for our Fall term.
  6. International students may not begin the Computer Science program in the Summer term due to visa restrictions.
