Before You Leave

The residence halls will not be accessible during the Winter Break. It is necessary that all important or valuable possessions are taken with you.
If you are returning to housing for the Spring 2015 semester – you DO NOT have to move all of your belongings out.
Please remember to:
  • Remove all trash
  • Clean
  • Close blinds and lock all windows and doors
  • Disconnect all appliances.  Remove all items from personal refrigerators and defrost them before leaving. College-provided refrigerators (Houses, South, Conese, Eastchester kitchens) should not be unplugged.
  • Turn all lights off
  • Turn off or lower the heat if possible
  • Wash all dirty dishes
  • Take all important medications and valuable possessions with you
  • Clean out your residence hall mailbox! If you are not returning to housing for the Spring – please forward your mail to the new address.
  • Do not leave your room keys—take them with you!
  • If your room currently has a vacancy or a roommate is not returning for the spring semester, you must ensure that the vacant space is clean, available, and that the proper furniture is accounted for and in place
  • If you are considering not returning or changing your room for next semester, make sure to contact your RHD well in-advance of your departure. Make sure that all of your belongings are removed from the space by your move-out deadline

If there are any questions regarding these policies, please email RHD Rosemary Genao at

Best of luck on finals and Happy Holidays!
