How Do I Apply

Applying to the Iona College - ESL Program is easy. Please click the button below to begin the application process:


Who Should Apply

  • International students who have an equivalent TOEFL iBT score under 80.
  • International students who have a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or higher, but who would like more practice with their English language skill sets before entering the college classroom.
  • International students who would like to improve their writing skills, specifically learning the various genres of writing and how to properly format a college-level research paper using MLA, APA, or Chicago style formats.
  • International students looking for an intensive academic English language program that will prepare them to enter and be successful in college classrooms. Preparation includes not only instruction and practice with English language skills but also instruction and guidance on U.S. college study skills and coping skills (time management, cross-culture, intercultural communication, conflict resolution, and everyday situations).
  • International students who would like to improve their discussion and debate skills before entering the college classroom.
  • International students who are willing to study and learn in an English-only environment


Who Should Not Apply

  • International students looking for a basic conversation school.
  • International students not interested in pursuing a higher education in the U.S.
  • International students who are looking for a place to attend part-time.
