IONA

Stephen Hill

Coordinator, Iona In Mission
Resident Hall Minister, Westside

Steve has worked in the Office of Mission and Ministry since August 2012. As the Coordinator of Iona in Mission, Steve organizes 8-10 service and social justice trips engaging Iona students in diverse communities of need, ranging from rural farm centers to large inner cities. He recruits and orients student leaders and participants and sponsors educational events and fund-raisers for each of the projects. On the local level, Steve coordinates Make a Difference week, a national community service initiative, and other local service projects.

Steve has been involved in ministry since college. At Fordham University he was involved with Global Outreach service projects, the Dorothy Day Center for Service & Justice, the Nativity Mission School, and many other campus ministry programs such as the retreat team. After graduating with a degree in theology from Fordham in 2010, Steve moved to Ithaca, NY to serve as a campus minister with the Ithaca College Catholic Community. At Ithaca College, Steve was responsible for organizing service immersion projects to West Virginia, Guatemala, Rochester, NY, and local service initiatives in the Ithaca community. While in Ithaca Steve was also very involved with the Peter DeMott Catholic Worker House.

He is very excited to join the Iona community and to continue his passion of promoting faith that does justice while encouraging students to foster a life-long desire to serve the poor and marginalized. The Iona in Mission service immersion trips are a great first step and Steve hopes you take that first step!
