Nuts & Bolts Officer Training

Nuts & Bolts is coordinated by the Student Government Association & The Office of Student Development.

The purpose of Nuts & Bolts is to train incoming executive board members on how to lead their club/organization. Attendees will be given an overview of the expectations and resources available. This introductory training will give students a basic foundation and starting point as they take on this new and exciting journey. Additional in depth trainings and leadership development will occur throughout the semester.

During Nuts & Bolts, students will be given the opportunity to:

  • acquire knowledge and develop an appreciation of the policies and procedures
  • develop a sense of ownership in their new role
  • create connections with other student leaders

A series of breakout sessions will be offered that will speak directly to:

  • President/Chairs
  • Vice Presidents
  • Treasurers
  • Secretary's
  • Event Coordinators
  • Public Relations, Recruitment & Retention Chairs

This program ties into the mission of Iona College as it exists to further educate our diverse community of learners and assists in helping to provide the tools and resources to make our graduates ethical and skilled decision-makers and problem solvers specifically motivated to demonstrate their excellent leadership abilities.

Please note the following:

  • The entire executive board of an organization must attend.
  • The attire is business casual.
  • All presidents must bring their transition binder.
  • All members must bring their club/organization Constitution (as it will be referred to throughout your training).
