  • What is the Office 365 Pro Plus benefit for students and employees?

    Academic institutions that are Microsoft customers and license Office for all faculty/staff are eligible to offer Office 365 Pro Plus to their students and employees for home use at no additional cost. Each user can install Office on 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets (Windows, iPad, and Android), and 5 phones. 
  • What happens when I graduate or leave Iona College?

    When you graduate or leave Iona College, your Office 365 subscription through Iona College ends. You may enroll into other consumer or commercial offers available. You should make sure to transfer all your files from your Iona College OneDrive to your personal OneDrive prior to graduating or leaving Iona College. 
  • How to Log In

    1. Sign in through MyIona SSO login page.
      *Click here for more instructions
    2. Click on the Microsoft Office 365 icon to access the application. No need to login again.
    *If you are an accepted student you will not have access to Microsoft Office 365 until you are able to log into the MyIona SSO with your Computer ID and Computer Password.

    Please logout by clicking on the Sign Out button logout on the upper right corner of the main SSO page.

    What is OneDrive?

    OneDrive is a file hosting service that allows users to upload and sync files to a cloud storage and access them from a web browser using Office 365.

    Accessing Your OneDrive in Office 365

    1. Open your web browser.
    2. Go to www.iona.edu
    3. At the top of the webpage, click on Quick Links and select Online Services.
    4. Once the MyIona Single Sign On (SSO) login page loads, enter your Computer ID and Password and click on the Login button.
    5. Click on the Microsoft Office 365 icon to access the application.
    6. Click on the blue box titled OneDrive on the Collaborate with Office Online screen or click on the App Launcher icon and select OneDrive.


    Uploading Files to Your OneDrive in Office 365

    To upload files, you can use the Drag & Drop option or the Upload option.

    Drag & Drop Option
    1. Find the document on your computer that you want to upload to OneDrive.
    2. Select the document and drag it to the space in the OneDrive library where it says “drop here…” (Note: you can upload multiple files at once)

    1. Select Upload.
    2. In the pop-up dialog box, navigate to and select the file(s) you want to upload. Then click Open.


    Share a document or folder

    1. Go to OneDrive for Business or the site library that has the document or folder you want to share.
    2. Select the file you want to share, and then select Share.
    3. In the Share dialog box on the Invite People tab, type names or email addresses of people you want to share the document or folder with.
    4. Select a permission setting.
    5. If you want, type a message to be included with an email that’s sent to all invitees. The email includes a link to the shared document.
    6. If you don't want to send an email, click Show Options, and then uncheck Send an email invitation.

    Office Online makes it easier for you to work in the cloud because Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and PDF documents can be accessed and used from within your web browser.

  • Install Office on your PC

    As part of Iona’s Office 365 ProPlus License, you are able to install the most current version of Office on your PC.

    As part of Iona’s Office 365 ProPlus License, you are able to install the most current version of Office on your PC. Here is how:
    1. Sign in through MyIona SSO login page
      *Click here for more instructions
    2. Click on the Microsoft Office 365 icon.
    3. Select the “Install now” button.
    4. The installation file will begin to download.
    5. Once the download has completed, double click the file to run it.
    6. The Office Installer will run in the background. A message will appear in the lower right hand corner of your screen will keep you updated on the status.
    7. During installation, the screen below will appear to give you an introduction to Office as well as have you agree to the License Agreement, continue through this dialog.
    8. Towards the end of installation, it will alert you that you can now use Office while it finishes installation.
    9. Launch one of the new Office Applications, i.e. Word.
    10. To get the most out of using Office, we recommend logging in using your Iona email address. This will allow you to have access to existing and save new documents to your OneDrive.

    1. Sign in through MyIona SSO login page

    2. Click on the Microsoft Office 365 icon.
    3. Select the Install link.
    4. On the page below, select the Install Button.
    5. After the disk image file finishes downloading, select the .dmg file to open the Office installer.
    6. Double click on the Office installer folder.
    7. Select continue and agree to the license agreement.
    8. Select Install.
    9. When you see the screen below, installation has finished and you should see the new application icons on your dock.
  • Get Email on your devices (Smartphones & Tablets)

    How to configure a cell phone to access Iona College Gaels email

    Due to the large number of cell phone vendors and models on the market Iona College does not offer cell phone support. For issues/problems with Iona College email on your cell phone, please contact your cell phone vendor.

    iPhone/iPad
    • Go to Settings
    • Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    • Select “Add Account” Choose Microsoft Exchange
    • Fill in your basic information (Name, Email Address, Password…)
    • Press the Next button on the top right of the screen when you’re finished and wait for the information to verify.
    • Go back into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select your Iona Exchange account.
    • Select your account within Exchange (ex. Account janedoe@gaels.iona.edu)
    • Make sure the following fields are correct
      • Email – your Iona email address
      • Server – outlook.office365.com
      • Domain – iona.edu
      • Username – your Iona email address
      • Password – your Iona computer password
    IMPORTANT: If the setup gives an error regarding your username or password please verify that your password is correct by logging into the account on a computer.



    Android (Devices may differ)
    • Go to Settings
    • Go to Accounts and select Add New Account
    • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or Corporate
    • Select Manual Setup and fill out the account information
      • Email Address – your Iona email address
      • Server Address – outlook.office365.com
      • Domain\Username - iona.edu\your email@gaels.iona.edu
      • Password – your Iona computer password
      • Press NEXT
      • Change your ActiveSync preferences to your liking and press NEXT
    • Name your account and Select Finish Setup.  

    IMPORTANT: Certain providers (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc.) require different outgoing server settings. If email.iona.edu does not connect you with the server please contact your cell phone vendor for the correct outgoing server information and settings for your phone.

    IMPORTANT: Your Domain and Username fields may show up in separate or in a combined field.
