Campaign Focus: Academic Excellence

Successful business leadership is grounded in both practice and theory. For generations, Iona’s School of Business has provided a challenging academic environment that produces leaders who understand business and its social responsibilities. These leaders work productively in a high-technology and culturally diverse society, demonstrate awareness of the global character of business, and subscribe to high ethical standards.
The School of Business is an essential resource for local and global corporations, not-for-profit organizations and local government in the New York metropolitan area and beyond. A growing demand for MBAs and professional business certificates necessitates a business education that responds to changing operational needs and evolving leadership approaches.

Expanding Iona's School of Business’ standard of academic excellence requires a new, state-of-the-art facility, one that fosters the interactive learning environment critical to 21st century leadership training.

“This new facility will meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s undergraduate and graduate students. It will allow us not only to keep pace with the educational landscape in business but also take Iona to the next level.”
Vincent J. Calluzzo, Ph.D., Dean, School of Business

“As a finance student, I find that my colleagues and I share a common focus on preparing for our careers and cultivating our futures. My hope is that Iona continues to provide future generations of Gaels with rigorous academic programs, service-based learning experiences, and a culture that has empowered each and every one of us to truly 'Move the World.”
Carl Funaro ’15, Finance Major, Student Government Association President (2014-15)

“It has been a pleasure to see Iona grow over the last 40-plus years since my time as an undergraduate. As we aspire to reach new heights of academic excellence and national prominence, it is crucial that we continue to invest in furthering the intellectual growth of our scholars in our business school. Our students are given the proper skills and education to become CEOs and leaders of successful, award-winning companies.”
Robert V. LaPenta ’67, ’00H, Chairman, CEO and Founding Partner, Aston Capital, LLC, Long-time Iona Trustee and Benefactor

“There are so many exciting things that can be done with an up-to-date business school building. Right now, we are trying to provide a 21st century education in a building that was built in the 1940s. Business, especially, is very dynamic. Resources need to be put right back into the classroom to enrich our education.”
Donald Grunewald, DBA, Professor of Strategic Management

"Iona College is a real student-centered institution supported by a committed faculty and staff who are teachers first and foremost.  Peggy and I believe it is important our College continue to enhance its facilities and programs so that our students have the best possible preparation to move the world."
Alfred F. Kelly Jr. ’80, ‘81MBA, President & CEO, NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee (Peggy Kelly ’81, ‘84MBA)
