Br. Arthur Loftus Outstanding Student Research Award

Faculty member must have a full-time appointment during AY2012-2013. The Arthur Loftus Outstanding Student Research Award program is available to tenured or non-tenure seeking faculty who are actively engaged in research and/or scholarly activity with undergraduate or graduate students. Sponsored by Jim and Anne Marie Hynes, includes $3,000 award as part of the recognition.*

The Irene Hammerbacher Outstanding Faculty Research Award

Faculty member must have a full-time appointment during AY2012-2013. The Outstanding Faculty Research Award is available to tenured or non-tenure seeking faculty who are actively engaged in research and/or scholarly activity. The purpose of the prize is to recognize faculty whose achievements in research, scholarship, or creative expression have had significant critical reception and are recognized nationally or internationally.Sponsored by Joseph and Kelli Nyre, includes $3,000 as part of the recognition.*

Br. Richard B. Power Award for Integrating Service Learning into the Classroom

Faculty member must have a full-time appointment during AY2012-2013. Requires demonstration of exceptional contributions to the college community as shown through leadership in areas ranging from faculty governance or administrative work, mentoring of student activities, sponsorship of college events, to initiation of new service projects for students, faculty and other members of the college community. This award, sponsored by Stephen and Barbara Portch, includes $3,000 as part of the recognition.*

Br. William H. Barnes Memorial Award for Service to the College

Faculty member must have a full-time appointment during AY2012-2013. Requires excellence in teaching that includes the integration of innovative approaches to service learning, or notable collaboration with faculty outside their department for incorporating service learning beyond the classroom. Sponsored by Jim and Anne Marie Hynes, includes $3,000 award as part of the recognition.*

The Catherine McCabe Award for Innovation & Excellence in Teaching

Faculty member must have a full-time appointment during AY2012-2013. This award is based on demonstration of exceptional teaching, recognized concern for students and colleagues and sensitivity to the mission of the College, and a commitment to high standards of professional and personal life. This award, sponsored by Joseph and Kelli Nyre, includes $3,000 as part of the recognition.*

Br. William Cornelia Distinguished Faculty Award

Faculty member must have a full-time appointment during AY2012-2013. Requires distinction as a teacher-scholar as documented through student- and peer-teaching evaluations; publications, invited lectures and papers, performances or shows; leadership in professional societies, work on editorial boards, membership in prestigious professional organizations; references, quotes or appearances in the media; or other kinds of selective positions of leadership. This award, sponsored by Stephen and Barbara Portch, includes $3,000 as part of the recognition.*

* The monetary awards are considered taxable compensation to the recipient in accordance with the IRS code.

Nomination Process:

1. Faculty, staff, and administrators may nominate faculty for the awards.
2. Nominations must be submitted by January 9, 2013 to the Chair of the Faculty Senate.
3. Nominators must provide 2 copies of nomination materials, including aCurriculum Vitae which may be obtained from the nominee or her/his department. Academic units will provide teaching evaluations for the two teaching awards.
4. Two letters of support from peer. One letter can be from outside Iona (including a retired member) but at least one must be from an active member of Iona College.
5. Review of applicants will be completed by February 15, 2013.
6. Awards will be announced by March 30, 2013.
7. Awards will be conferred at May graduation.

Rules:

1. Faculty can be nominated for only one award.
2. All documents must be completed and received by the deadline to be eligible.
3. A member of the selection committee cannot be nominated for an award.
