Eastern Economic Association Annual Conference 2008

Submitting a Paper

Are you an undergraduate student?  There will be special undergraduate sessions organized by Issues in Political Economy, the undergraduate journal in economics headquartered at Elon College.  Click here for more information about IPE sessions at the EEA meetings.

Submitting A Paper

Papers are invited on all topics in economics. There is a two-paper limit on submissions.

To submit a paper:

1. Complete the submission form. If there are multiple authors, please be sure to list their names and affiliations in the order in which they should appear in the program (i.e., who is first author, second author, etc.).

2. Send the form by email (scan or attachment as pdf are fine), fax, or snail mail ALONG WITH PAYMENT OF THE REQUIRED SUBMISSION FEES. Note that the fee is per paper, not per author. Submissions are NOT considered complete WITHOUT PAYMENT. Please choose just one method of submission! Multiple copies waste paper and can cause confusion. As per the Acknowledgement section below, we will acknowledge receipt of papers as quickly as possible. That being said, if you don't hear from us in a reasonable time period (a week or so) feel free to inquire.

3. Email an abstract of the paper(s) to mlesser@iona.edu (Word document preferred). While there is no set length for abstracts, they should be detailed enough to provide the program committee with sufficient information to determine whether or not the paper should be accepted AND to place it in an appropriate session; therefore abstracts should explain the substance of the paper along with the methodology etc. (as appropriate) used. Please format the abstract as follows: (1) JEL Code(s); (2) paper title (please be sure the title of the paper on the abstract matches what is listed on the submission form); (3) author(s) (listed in order, i.e., first author, second author, etc.).

4. Acknowledgement letters regarding submissions will be sent as the submissions are processed and will include a receipt (and the credit card receipt if payment was made by that method). Submissions tend to arrive in the largest volume around the deadline dates so acknowledgement may be slower in those "rush" times. However, if you don't hear from us in a reasonable time period (a week or so) feel free to inquire.

DATES

The "earlybird" (i.e. at a reduced fee) deadline for submitting papers is October 12, 2007.  The final deadline for submitting papers and organized sessions is November 8, 2007.

The program committee (which reviews and selects papers and sessions submitted for the conference) is tentatively scheduled to meet early in December.  Acceptance letters will be sent out (and a full conference program will be posted on this web site) by mid December.  In order to be listed in the printed conference program, participants must register and pay the appropriate registration fee by January 18, 2008 (please note that the fee is thereafter nonrefundable).  There is an additional $15 charge for registration on site.

One More Thing.
We often get requests for copies of papers that have been presented or for information as to how to contact authors.  In response,  we will publish e-mail addresses for authors both in the printed conference program and in the program that will appear on our web site.  Moreover, we will also provide links from the EEA web site to author's web sites if the information is provided.
