Amir Alan Vahab is one of New York's most celebrated composer/vocalists of the Persian and Turkish traditions, applauded for his performance of songs from the poetry of the great Sufi Masters, Rumi and Hafez. He and his ensemble SOROOSH - "Messenger Angel" - open their audience to the spiritual dimension of existence with authentic instruments of the region and the beauty of the ancient music of the Middle East. Watch as a group of actors take on the overwhelming task of performing 37 plays and 154 sonnets in under two hours, illuminating the world of Shakespeare through a unique blend of madcap humor that includes everything from puns and pratfalls to elaborate sight gags of football, swordplay and hip-hop music. Irreverent and hilarious, this comedy sensation keeps audiences of all ages delighted and entertained.
Faces of America: Servicemen Portraits

In 1943 the NRAA became involved in a project organized by the USO to sketch portraits of servicemen at USO centers. The original portraits were mailed to whomever the servicemen requested. The sketches were done both at Fort Slocum on David’s Island and at the Masonic Services Center here in New Rochelle. This exhibition will feature dozens of reproductions of these historical portraits as well as a modern version of this project including portraits created by current members of present day servicemen. The New Rochelle Art Association is celebrating its 100th year and will be holding several historical exhibits at different venues across the city.

Based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, a desperate young man plans the perfect crime, the murder of a despicable pawnbroker, that no one loves and no one will mourn. Is it not just, he reasons, for a man of genius to commit such a crime, to transgress moral law -- if it will ultimately benefit humanity. Raskolnikov, an impoverished student living in a garret in the gloomy slums of St. Petersburg, Russia, carries out his grotesque scheme and faces the consequences of such a depraved plan. This contemporary ballet performed by New Rochelle's own professional ballet company depicts the rituals rooted deep in history from 2000 BC and impressed on Albanian culture by the Romans, the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic faith. Leonard Ajkun's exciting and daring choreography performed by the inspired company touches on the contemporary social topics such as discrimination against women, immigrants and religion. This exciting full ballet performance, a first for Iona, is not to be missed!

This musical is a parody of backstage murder mystery plots, set in 1959 Boston, Massachusetts and follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of Robin Hood of the Old West is murdered during her opening night curtain call. It is up to a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan to save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself.

This exhibition investigates trends of institutional scandal and corruption that have been covered up or “swept under the rug.” The implications of such scandals not only reveal flaws in the institutions themselves, but the ripple effect of trust violations and cyclical patterns of power abuse is extensive and chillingly disconcerting. This exhibit will feature the work of fifteen artists from across the US and Ireland covering such topics as the Watergate scandal, genocide in Rwanda, the Penn State/Syracuse sex abuse allegations, and the Sean Bell shooting of 2006.

Phaedra, believing that her husband King Theseus has been killed decides to declare her love to Hippolytus, the King's son from a previous marriage.
