"The Yellow Star: a little light dispels great darkness"

This opera, directed by David Mold, is the moving story of the Danish people who rescued almost all the Danish Jews in 1943, just as the Nazis were coming to take them away. Black Violin
Winners of the 2005 Apollo Legends title, Kev Marcus and Wil B, along with DJ TK, have created the ultimate synergy between classical and hip-hop music. These classically-trained violinists, who have performed and recorded with Alicia Keys, Lil' Kim and Brooke Hogan, bring their exciting talent to Iona. Westchester Chamber Orchestra
Founder and Artistic Director Barry Charles Hoffman leads the orchestra in an all-Brahms concerto program featuring internationally-recognized pianist Alon Goldstein. Works include Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 15 in D minor and Symphony No. 2, Op. 73 in D major. Metro Chamber Orchestra
Under the direction of Artistic Director Phil Nuzzo, the Metro Chamber Orchestra will perform an exciting program featuring Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, ("Emperor") featuring pianist Christopher Vath. In the second half the orchestra will present Debussy's "L'Efant Prodigue" in an arrangement by the distinguised American composer Philip Hagermann. Metropolitan Opera soprano Sherry Zanoth will be joined by the rising Metropolitan Opera tenor, Noah Stewart in the title role. Also assisting will be members of the Rockland Choral Society. Westchester Chamber Orchestra
Founder and Artistic Director Barry Charles Hoffman leads the orchestra in Mozrt's Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Ciola and Orchestra, E-flat major, K. 364 and Handel's Water Music Suites, os. 2 and 3 and the Ryal Fireworks Overture. Soloists Liz Dutton and Larry Dutton will perform. January
Gallery Exhibition: From Africa to America: Visual Reflections on the African Diaspora
Curated by Jennifer Zazo as part of Black History Month, this exhibition will examine the African Diaspora and its rich infusion into contemporary culture through a diversity of artists and media. February
Westchester Chamber Orchestra
This concert, conducted by Barry Charles Hoffman, will feature noted cellist Amit Peled performing a movement from Bloch's "Prayer" from "Jewish Life", plus Haydn's Concerto in D Major. Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings will also be performed. Platanos and Collard Greens
The critically acclaimed Off-Broadway hit is a thought-provoking romantic comedy that tactfully addresses stereotypes, prejudices and urban myths that exist between African Americans and Latinos within the context of hip-hop, humor and satire. Sweet Charity

Parul Shah Dance Concert
Parul Shah Kathak Dance blends the dance, music and narrative heritages of Hindu and Muslim cultures. Traditional dance from Northen India continues to evolve as an art form. Featuring fast footwork, spins, and sudden stops, the performance creates a rhythmic dialogue between this extraordinary dancer and two musicians. Discussion with the artists follows the performance.
