Adjunct Professor
John Gavalchin, a critically acclaimed concert pianist, has performed throughout North and South American. These performances included numerous radio and television appearances. Additionally he has taught master classes in piano throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Professor Gavalchin's doctoral dissertation "Temporality in Music: a conceptual model based on the phenomenology of Paul Ricoeur" received the prestigious "Roger P. Phelps Award" at NYU for outstanding music dissertation.
He has taught Music Appreciation for many years and is a former New York University faculty member. In addition to teaching at Iona College, Professor Gavalchin also teaches at Teachers' College, Columbia University.
Professor Gavalchin holds a BM and MM from the Julliard School and a PhD from New York University.
