Maria Armiento-DeMaria is the Clinic Director for the Iona College Speech and Language Hearing Clinic and an alumnus of the department.
Fourteen years of clinical experience include medical and school settings serving populations from across the age span. Clinical interests include the supervisory process, swallowing disorders, oral motor function, cognition, child language and child speech disorders.
Current research projects include the "Use of Therapy Dogs to Promote the Well Being of Older Adults" with Dr. Ferrero-Paluzzi and "Speech Intelligibility after Tactile-Kinesthetic Feedback for a Global Aphasic" with Prof. Leone.
Additional activities include the Continuing Education Administrator as an ASHA Approved CE Provider for Iona College Speech Communication Studies Department as well as a committee member for ASHA's Academic Affairs Board.

include Dysphagia in children and adults, oral motor skills, language development, articulation and phonology
