Dr. Kang's research interest is in the field of Plant Biology. She is particularly interested in the cell to cell interactions that occur during a pollination event. Using the model organism, Arabidopsis thaliana, she is studying how the cells of a pistil recognize pollen from its own species and other species, yet only allow a compatible pollen grain to go ahead and fertilize the egg.

Dr. Kang is also studying the ecology of the butterfly weed, Asclepias tubersosa, in Rye Marshlands Conservancy and other parts of Westchester County.
