Our Department participates in three Masters degree programs with the Education Department here at Iona College. All three programs are in adolescence education (grades 7- 12) and are approved by the New York State Education Department and satisfy the academic requirements for the New York State Teaching Certificate

Our programs are one of only a very few programs that are both recognized by the NSTA and accredited by NCATE

Initial Certification Programs

The Masters of Science Teaching (MST) is an initial certification program that is designed to help individuals who have not had previous experience in science education but have completed an undergraduate degree in biology

The Transition B Program (MST) is a designed for change-of-career applicants who wish to become teachers in New York State through a full sequence of courses and a school-based mentorship experience

Advanced Professional Program

The Masters of Science in Education (MSED) is an advanced professional program designed for teachers holding initial teaching certificates
