Graduate Program Admission Requirements

Non-Matriculated Status

Students will be considered for admission to the program with non-martiriculated status if they provide the following:

  • A completed application
  • Proof of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university; this may be in the form of an official or student copy of the transcript
  • Meeting with the Department chair of Biology

A maximum of 12 credits will be permitted as a non-matriculated student. The department will not accept additional credits without matriculation

Admission to non-matriculated status does not assure admission to matriculated status

Matriculated Status

Students will be considered for admission to the program with matriculated status if they provide the following:

  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools previously attended with a minimum 2.75 undergraduate GPA or a 3.0 gradate GPA on a minimum of twelve credits at Iona
  • Three completed recommendation forms must be submitted directly to the Dean's office of The School of Arts and Science. These forms must be submitted by supervisors or college faculty who have direct knowledge of the student's academic aptitude and potential for success in the program. If possible, at least one letter of recommendation must be from a recent faculty member. Recommendations from friends, relatives or colleagues are not acceptable
  • Meeting with the Department chair of Biology
Deadlines for Applications
  • March 1 for Fall Semester
  • October 1 for Spring Semester
