Career Choices of our Alumni

Over the past five years about 60 percent of students in chemistry have gone on to graduate or professional schools. The other students have begun their careers in industry. In the Middle Atlantic region, the average median full-time salary for MS and PhD chemists is between $85,000 and $103,900 per year, respectively, and for chemistry graduates with the BS degree, $68,400 per year (data are from the American Chemical Society, 2009).

The success of our program speaks for itself. Recent graduates of Iona College have gone on to the following graduate schools.

In addition, they have attained rewarding careers in high school teaching (New Rochelle HS, Goshen HS, Admiral Farragut Academy, etc.) and industry (companies such as Pfizer, Avon, Pepsi Co., and many others).
