Personal Statement

As an attorney focusing on intellectual property, I use my computer science skills in the preparation of patent applications in the hi-tech industry and as an aid to understanding the technology involved in patents that become the subject of litigation. Iona gave me the opportunity to learn computer science and other skills that formed the basis of my career as a developer and software consultant after graduation. Iona was instrumental in giving me a jump-start in my career by placing me at a corporation while still a freshman. The open door policy of the professors and their desire to not only help the student grasp the subject matter being taught but also to learn how to teach themselves has proven to be invaluable, especially in a field like computer science, where change is the norm.
