Personal Statement

I am currently working at Advent Software Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. We provide software solutions to mid and large size financial companies. My role includes architecture, design, and development of software components in .Net. I also worked as an IT architect and a manager for other companies in multiple industries.

My Iona College education was the starting point for the success I have had in my professional carrier. I was introduced to computer programming at Iona, and I acquired solid technical knowledge and problem solving skills while pursuing my master's program in Computer Science. However, two courses in particular were key for me: the Data Structures course I took with Dr. Schiaffino, and Databases 1 & 2 with Dr. Ricardo. I was inspired and motivated by the teachers. In the meantime, the concepts I learned from them are the basis for everything I do, whether it is during the design or the development phase of the software life cycle.

I just feel so fortunate I had the opportunity to pursue my dreams and succeed in this field, and I am very proud to say that Iona College was a big part of it all.
