Personal Statement

I work as a senior Project Specialist for the Corporate Information Department of New York Life Insurance Company where we focus primarily on writing automated test scripts for applications that build on both agile and waterfall environments. The principle of automated testing is that there is a program that runs the program being tested, feeding it with proper input and checking the output against the expected output. Once the test suite is written, no human intervention is needed, either to run the program or to determine if it worked: The test suite does it all. Automated scripts accelerate the productivity in agile and waterfall environments with different testing tools like Quick Test Professional, Fitnesse, SoapUI for Webservice. I focus on writing and maintaining scripts for these test tools.

For these duties you really need a good grasp of Computer Science fundamentals as well good insight into how a process works. For me it all started with my education at Iona and the credit goes to the professors who taught me. Iona's dedicated professors help form you into a true professional. I used to attend evening classes while working 9-5 and worked hard to complete my masters. After I graduated from Iona I had several job offers but picked this one which I found to be more challenging and exciting. I would encourage others to opt for a Computer Science degree at Iona College.
