Personal Statement

Personal Statement: With over $287 billion in total assets under management, and more than $15 billion in surplus and AVR, New York Life Insurance Company stands as the largest mutual life-insurance company in the United States, and as one of the largest insurers in the world. The company ranks #71 on the 2011 Fortune 100 list, making it the highest privately held insurance company on that list. NYL yet continues to grow in today's economy, making it a great company to seek a lifetime career in.

I am currently on a team known as the, IP Enabled Video & Voice team.

Our team handles all of the videoconferences and web collaboration done at New York Life. My main responsibility at NYL is to maintain over 100 videoconferences room across the world, find ways to improve user experience, and of course manage servers. I am also responsible for any web collaboration done at NYL, and IP voice related equipment. I work closely with Polycom, Cisco, AVI-SPL and Verizon. This team is heavily network based; yet, I also find ways to create scripts for automating tasks that are done manually using programming background. I recommend everyone enrolling in an interim position during his or her course at Iona; it is truly a learning experience that no class can come close to.
