Dr. Cathryn Lavery joined the Criminal Justice Department as a full-time faculty member in September, 2005. She received her BA from Clark University , an MS in Criminal Justice from Iona College , and her PhD from the Graduate Center/CUNY. She teaches both in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Her research interests include campus crime, sexual assault and victimization, corrections policy, and forensic mental health issues in prisons and jails. Prior to her hire at Iona, Dr. Lavery taught at Sacred Heart University and John Jay College/CUNY. She has served as a consultant on federal grant programs and is certified in Forensic Mental Health Training and Sexual Victimization Counseling. She currently serves as the Faculty Advisor for the Criminal Justice Club.
