Dr. Robert Mealia joined the Department as a full-time faculty member in September of 1996. He currently teaches in both the graduate and the undergraduate programs, and served as Department Chair from 1999 to 2005. He possesses BA and M.P.A. degrees from CUNY's John Jay College of Criminal Justice and an MA and PhD from SUNY Albany's School of Criminal Justice. His research interests are primarily in personnel administration, crime analysis, and program evaluation. Prior to his appointment to Iona, Dr. Mealia served in over a dozen different commands within the New York City Police Department, including a number of supervisory and management positions. His last five years were spent as executive officer of the First Deputy Commissioner's Office, which administers the management, budget, personnel, and disciplinary functions of the New York City Police Department.
