Economics Club

The Iona College Economics Club was founded in the 1950s as the Economics Colloquium, and undertakes a variety of activities.  Membership is open to all students interested in Economics.

Members of the Economics Club have toured the New York Federal Reserve Bank and the New York Stock Exchange, and have attended lectures by distinguished economists hosted by the Economics Section of the New York Academy of Sciences. Members have staffed the annual meetings of the Eastern Economic Association and have edited the Business Page of Iona's campus newspaper, the Ionian.

The Club regularly invites guest speakers from business and government to meet with students and discuss relevant economic issues in their field. Recent speakers have included the Director of the Federal Trade Commission's Northeast Regional Office and the HR executive of an asset management firm.

The Club is presently moderated by Dr. Caitlin A. Greatrex.

Economics Club Activities

Club Members visit the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Members of the Economics Club regularly tour the New York Federal Reserve Bank generally in April.   They meet with Caroline Boyce ’85, who has been at the New York Federal Reserve since graduation and is currently a bank supervisor.  In that position Caroline is responsible for a team of examiners and a portfolio of 30 domestic and foreign banks.  She also participates in technical assistance missions with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

Members also participate in the Fed Challenge Team that competes each year at the New York Federal Reserve, providing an analysis of Fed policy.
