Associate Professor in the Teacher Education Program
Dr. Vincent Ciardiello earned his M.A. degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York and his Ph.D. in Language, Literacy and Learning from Fordham University. The focus of his doctoral research was on student questioning strategies. Prior to his current position at Iona, he taught for 32 years in the New York City Public School system and also trained high school teachers in implementing student questioning strategies in their classrooms.
Dr. Ciardiello is the author of several articles on classroom questioning, critical literacy, text structure comprehension, case-based instruction and multicultural education. His most recent book publication is forthcoming: “Puzzle Them First! Motivating Adolescent Readers with Question-Finding.” International Reading Association. (December 2006).
