Does the program lead to licensure?
Completion of the certificate program will satisfy the academic preparation requirement precedent to admission to the examination for nursing home administrator licensure.

Examination required for licensure: New York State

Clinical hours required for licensure: 150

Clinical hours toward licensure provided within the program: 150 if student elects a practicum experience

Two hours, one evening a week OR Weekends (Saturday and Sunday mornings or afternoons) for six weekends in a term OR Distance-learning courses [Please note: Degree cannot be completed by taking Weekend courses only or via DL courses only]

Average courseload per term: 2 courses (three credits each)

Internship/practicum required for completion:
150 hours practicum required for licensure

Preferred academic preparation or background experience:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree

  • Three professional letters of recommendation
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or at discretion of the director
  • Resume (if GPA is below 3.0)
