|Orly Shachar joined the department in 1986, teaching primarily in the public relations concentration. Dr. Shachar received her BA from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. She worked as a consumer correspondent for Ma'ariv, the largest daily newspaper in Israel before moving on to the corporate world, working for a large Israeli public relations firm. Following her interests in corporate communication, Dr. Shachar enrolled in the College of Communication at Boston University. She received her MS in 1983 and her PhD in Socio-Political Communication in 1987. Her research interests include gender imagery and genderized communication in science journalism and in medical discourse.
