Journalism (MS)No profession in the world is changing like journalism. From consolidation by media giants to online magazine and blogs, journalism has more outlets, more practitioners, and more opportunities than anytime in recent memory. The program at Iona College is designed to provide insights and practical experience, bolstered by the proximity to the resources and excitement of New York. Many students work or intern with media outlets in the tri-state metropolitan area.

Specific focus of the program:
Online and print journalism, including urban reporting, entertainment and sports journalism.

Each class meets for three hours, one evening a week
Multiple courses are offered online

Rolling; we encourage you to submit application documents at least two weeks before the start of the term

Preferred academic preparation or background experience:
Some area of expertise, from economics to politics to technology.

Admission requirements:

  • Application for admission
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Two professional letters of recommendation
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 (or at discretion of the director)
  • GRE (if cumulative undergraduate GPA is below 3.0; minimum 450 on verbal section)
  • Interview with the graduate program coordinator
  • Writing assessment (can be done in-person or on-line)
  • Resume
