Students may be admitted to the graduate program as non-matriculated, or matriculated. Non-matriculated students are permitted to earn a maximum of 12 credits before they matriculate. Normally, students apply for matriculation after successfully completing four courses (12 credits) and before they complete their fifth course.
Non-matriculated students are encouraged to monitor their progress because any credits earned past the inital 12 will not count towards the degree unless students are matriculated. To matriculate, students must complete a Request for Matriculation Form which is available from the Office of the Dean of Arts and Science (1st floor Murphy Center). Completion of the form requires reference letters from three Departmental faculty members. In addition, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
