Admission Requirements

Students wishing to major in Mass Communication must first complete a general year of courses. After their freshman year, students may begin to take courses at the 200 level in mass communication. The typical mass communication student would take MCO 200 (Introduction to Mass Communication) and one other subject area course (MCO 210 Advertising, MCO 213 Public Relations or MCO 225 Broadcasting) during their sophomore year.

Students wishing to major in mass communication should declare their major as soon as possible. Admission to the major program requires a cumulative 2.5 GPA upon completion of 24 credits.
