MS Ed in Education - Adolescence Education (7-12): Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics, in conjunction with the Department of Education, offers a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) with a concentration in mathematics designed for students who have initial/provisional certification. The program of study which leads to the MSEd in Mathematics Education prepares students to teach a wide variety of topics offered in the secondary schools. This program combines graduate-level mathematics with professional education. Thus, it provides courses and experiences necessary for planning and assessing instructional activities for students from a variety of backgrounds and needs. The required mathematics credits include courses in Analysis, Foundations, Geometry, and Statistics. The program's culminating experience combines mathematics and educational theory with classroom experience in an original research project which produces a Master's thesis.
