Jeanne Zaino has been a member of the faculty at Iona College since 2002. During her tenure she has served as Interim Dean of the School of Arts & Science, Director of the College's Honors Program, and two terms as Chair of the Political Science Department. An expert on American politics and government, she has written several books and articles and frequently serves as a political commentator in the local and national media.
She earned a bachelor's and master's degree in political science and public opinion polling at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. She continued her graduate work at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst where she earned a second masters degree and a doctoral degree in political science. As a member of the Political Science faculty, she teaches courses in American government, presidency, courts, voting, elections, public opinion, political parties, and research methods. Her most recent research focuses on post-2000 electoral litigation, the import of poll workers and the pedagogical benefits of metaphors. Her work has been published in journals as varied as: Campaigns and Elections, Journal of Politics, Journal of Political Science Education, Dispute Resolution Journal, Journal of Pastoral Counseling, and the Chronicles of Higher Education. Her most recent books are Adventures in Social Research: Data Analysis Using SPSS (Pine Forge/Sage) and Core Concepts in American Government (Prentice Hall).
In addition, she frequently comments on political and electoral issues in the media. She has recently had editorials published in both USA Today and The Washington Post. She has also been quoted in publications as varied as the New York Post, Journal News, and CBS News Interactive. She has done a good deal of radio, including NPR's Marketplace, WHUD, WVOX, and WCHE, Pennsylvania. She is also a frequent guest on local and national television with recent appearances on Fox, Fox 5, WCBS, News12, Regional News Network (RNN), Richard French Live, WNBC, Good Day New York, Good Day Street Talk, and "On-line.com".
