Fundraising Events:
- We initiated a bottle/can drive last semester. We will be using the proceeds from our collections to make a donation to a charity that one of Iona's alumni is currently working with.
- We sold home-made brownies and cookies at the Football game during Homecoming Weekend, and it was a great success. We used the proceeds to help fund our newly intitiated service project.
Service Projects:
- We collected items to donate in a hand-decorated basket for the Thanksgiving Basket Drive this past November.
- I also recently intitiated a service project that my club is enjoying very much. In collaboration with the organization Adopt-A-Soldier, my fellow club members and I have been corresponding (emails, letters, care packages) with two soldiers currently serving overseas. We hope to initiate a campus-wide interest in this program and broaden the number of students involved.
Events held last semester:
With The Ionian, we hosted a Baseball and Pizza night in LaPenta.
Events this semester:
- We will be hosting an essay competition this Spring, all years and majors will be eligible to apply
- We will also be attending the Model United Nations Conference hosted at Harvard, in February 2007.
