Odessa Despot joined the faculty at Iona College in August 2012. She received a BS and MA degree from NYU. While at NYU Dr. Despot worked on a variety of research projects including the longitudinal and grant funded Metro-Baby project which focused on the child-rearing patterns among immigrant and low-income families. Dr. Despot graduated from the combined Clinical-School Child doctoral program at Yeshiva University and completed her post-doctoral training at ANDRUS, a community mental health agency committed to providing quality mental health services to an underserved population with various psychiatric disorders. Dr. Despot's clinical orientation is integrative and attachment-based. She has performed comprehensive assessments and provided individual, group and family therapy treatment in schools, clinics and hospital centers.

Dr. Despot's research interests include multiculturalism, immigration and identity formation, and women's studies.
