Religious Studies holds a significant place in the Liberal Arts curriculum, particularly in an institution founded in the Catholic tradition of higher education.
The core courses, electives and major and minor programs seek to introduce students to the field of religion as an area open to disciplined scholarly inquiry; to assist students in developing an understanding of the nature and complexity of religious phenomena and experience; and to acquire an appreciation of the critical problems and issues involved in the study of religion.
Iona students and faculty travelled to Auschwitz, Poland, as part of a spring study abroad program. During the week, the students and faculty blogged about their experiences and reflections.
Th trip was sponsored by Iona's endowed professorship in Jewish-Catholic Studies. The Driscoll Professorship in Jewish-Catholic Studies honors past president Br. John G. Driscoll and is funded through a generous gift from Jack and Susan Rudin.
Theta Alpha Kappa National Honor Society of Religion and Theology - Iona College is proud to be the fifth founding chapter of the Society and as such we are named the Epsilon Chapter.
